1/4 inch 8 Track Tape Transfer

We can transfer your ¼” (quarter inch) 8 track reel to individual digital .wav or .aiff files. Digitized 8 track tapes can then be digitally remixed in a modern day Mac or PC digital audio workstations like Pro Tools, Cubase, Nuendo, Logic Pro X, Garage Band, or Reaper. If you have a ¼ inch 8 track tape, typically recorded on a Fostex A8, A8 LR or E-8 or Tascam 388, that you would like to remix digitally, contact us now for a quote and directions to send us your tapes for conversion.

Fostex A8 LRThe quarter inch 8 track format was pretty obscure and there were only a few models that used this configuration. This is a very small space to record so many tracks on a narrow tape. This is not to be confused with 8-track cartridges.

Many 1/4" tapes, mostly AMPEX/Quantegy and fewer formulas of 3M/SCOTCH are unfortunately prone to "sticky shed" syndrome, due to the breakdown of the binder (glue) holding the oxide particles on the tape. Tape baking may be required for the transfer of older, unstable tapes. We have perfected the process of treating and rescuing these tapes (even those suffering from severe sticky shed). Let our team of seasoned engineers handle the delicate process of saving your recordings; giving them an infinite lifespan in the digital domain.
