What is a Track Sheet?

Here is an example of a track sheet from a tape recorded on a 24 track tape machine. A 16 or 8 track tape only have 8 or 16 boxes, or may also use 24 boxes but they may have a line through them. It can also tell us if there are tones on the tape we can calibrate from, operating level, IPS (7.5, 15 or 30 inches per second), if noise reduction such as Dolby A, Dolby SR or dbx was used.

Send the track sheet along with your tapes if you still have it — it tells us the track count, tape speed and noise reduction before we load the reel. We transfer 2-inch 24 & 16-track, 1-inch 16-track and 1/2-inch 8 & 16-track reels, and can work from the track sheet to label every stem we deliver.
