Alesis Ion

The Ion is an analog modeling synth from Alesis made in 2003. It is 8 voice, 4 part multitimbral synth with 512 patches, 64 multis sets, 6 audio outputs, variable oscillators and a vocoder. Two filters can be set to any of the 16 filters types, including digital emulations of the filters; characteristics found in the Minimoog, Apr 2600, Oberheim Xpander, Roland Jupiter 8, and Roland TB-303 along with comb and formant filters. There is a rich modulation matrix which includes a nonlinear remapper, 3 loopable envelope generators, and of course, dedicated knobs for almost every function. Effects include flange, chorus, phaser and drive. It has been used in recordings by Daniel Lopatin, Klaus Schulze, The Veronicas, and Nine Inch Nails. Watch a demo here.
