Nintendo Game Boy and TeensyBoy midi interface

The TeensyBoy is a Nintendo Game Boy midi interface made by Catskull Electronics, with the mGB software on the cartridge, allowing access to the 4 monophonic synth voices of the Game Boy through midi. The amp mod has been performed on our GameBoy giving it better signal to noise ratio. Audio is connected via the stereo headphone output. Besides mGB we also have Droneboy, Deathray, DrumTech, ProPerformer and LSDJ.

The original Nintendo Game Boy, released in 1989, features a custom sound chip known as the DMG-CPU B, which provides four audio channels: two pulse wave generators, a programmable wave table, a noise generator. The TeensyBoy MIDI controller is an interface that connects the Game Boy through the External Connection port to modern MIDI devices. This controller, based on the Teensy microcontroller, enables the control of the Game Boy like a synthesizer to play the sound chip's notes.
