Betacam SX is the digital replacement of Betacam SP, and was released in 1996. It provides even longer recording times of up to 194 minutes in L mode, and audio recording at 48kHz, 16-bit. This format was very successful with news organizations, since decks were available which could also play original Betacam SP as well. Many broadcasters are still using Betacam SX to this day.
