We can record your MPEG IMX video tape to digital files so it may be viewed on current digital video players, computers, and mobile devices. The video files we record, which will be an exact digital copy, can also be used in video editing software like Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere, Vegas, and iMovie. Popular file formats we can provide are ProRes, MOV, MP4, M4V, and AVI.
MPEG IMX was released in 2001 to replace Betacam SX. It utilizes digital video compression known as H.262/MPEG-2 Part 2. With a higher bitrate than Betacam SX, and new compression technology, the MPEG IMX format was able to capture higher quality video without sacrificing long recording times of up to 184 minutes. All IMX decks natively supported Betacam SX playback. Along with the release of MPEG IMX came SDTI (Serial Digital Timecode Interface) which allowed for the addition of timecode to be carried over a coax cable, along with audio and video, and required no retrofitting in a studio environment already wired for SDI.
