ARP 2600

The ARP 2600 is the legendary semi-modular synth from 1971. There have been several versions of the 2600. Ours is the 2600P 3.0 which was made in early 1973. It has the gray/white color scheme. The filter is model 4012 and the oscillators are model 4027-1. A few of the things that give the 2600 its unique sound are the 24 dB/octave low-pass filter, 3 oscillators, a ring modulator, and a spring reverb. It is most famously known as one of the main sound design elements created by Ben Burtt to create the voice of R2-D2's in Star Wars and is great of creating a wide range of sci-fi sounds. It has also been used by Depeche Mode, Chemical Brothers, Meat Beat Manifesto, Portishead, Junkie XL, Herbie Hancock, Stevie Wonder, Orbital, ELO, Utravox, Underworld, and Vince Clark.
